Biography

Frank Casino (real name: Nhlanhla Tshabalala) was born and raised in the heart of Kempton Park, Tembisa. Frank began to develop his creatively ecumenical sound in 2004 back in high school. In 2005, Frank Casino discovered his ideal music genre whilst forming a group/band with friends during 9th grade. They called themselves ‘Krunk Era’. During that time, Frank got a sniff of what commercial breakthrough felt like when the group performed on YO TV (one of South Africa’s prime time Tv shows). That same year, the group got signed by independent record label owner Vusi Leeuw.
The 5-year contract deal lasted long enough to see the group change their name from Krunk Era to Blaque Print. A name they most represented well with their style of music and work-ethic. In 2010 after the end of Blaque Print’s contract with Vusi Leeuw, Frank Casino and two other band members (Dellz Blaque & Parley Alexander) began exploring the possibilities of building a stronger-versatile band. They ended up releasing a joint project that year titled “Casino Royale” which featured former members of Blaque Print.
In 2012, Frank Casino featured on Parley Alexander’s first solo project “Points To Prove” which led to them co-founding Dapper Gang Records. Proving that signing yourself is in fact the best way to grow your brand as an artiste in today’s Pan-African music industry. On February 7th, 2015, Dapper Gang Records launched officially, and Frank Casino has since been releasing music under the label’s creative wing. His 2016 hit song “Whole Thing” (which has a sound that deviates from conventional hip hop music) has been play-listed on more than 27 radio stations thus far, promising to be a very successful debut single indeed.
